Microsoft has revealed that a Bing application for Apple’s hyped iPhone has hit the virtual shelves of its longtime rival’s online App Store.

At a launch celebration sin San Francisco, Bing for Mobile product manager Justin Jed remarked, “We like everybody and the key thing is what platforms and experiences users want and how to meet their needs.”

This free f cost application from the world’s leading software giant, Microsoft, allows the iPhone users tap on an icon to search the Internet using Microsoft’s newly launched Bing technology.

Earlier, the versions of mobile Bing software for the Blackberry devices, manufactured by the Canada-based Research In Motion, and smart phones based on Microsoft’s windows Software were shipped about a week ago.

“We think mobile Web and mobile services are a huge behavioral experience that customers are going after. If users want to interact with the Internet on their mobile, we are going to be there to hang out with them,” Jed added.

Good news for Microsoft as the software giant’s attempt to gain internet search market got a new boost on Tuesday!

Microsoft’s new Internet search engine Bing increased its share of the US search market in October, close to almost 10 per cent!

This was the fifth month in a row of modest gains in search share for Bing, which Microsoft unveiled in June accompanied by a 100-million-dollar advertising campaign in a bid to challenge search king Google Inc.

Bing’s share of the lucrative search and advertising market increased by 0.5 per cent in October to 9.9 per cent. Yahoo!, Microsoft’s search partner, saw its market share decline 0.8 per cent in October to 18.0 percent.

Meanwhile, Google also added half-a-point in October to reach 65.4 per cent. Other minor search engines like, Ask.com was unchanged at 3.9 per cent while AOL.com lost 0.1 per cent to 2.9 per cent.

Recovery to begin soon: Google

Here is some good news after a relatively long bad spell.
According to Eric Schmidt, internet search giant’s chief executive, a US recovery is likely to begin this autumn.

Speaking at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in southern France, Schmidt admitted that the worst fiscal downturn since the Great Depression of 1930s was over and it would be “reasonable to be optimistic for 2010.”

“The rate of jobless claims is decreasing although the absolute number is increasing,” he said.

Schmidt however refused to comment on the rumors that said Google had set up a team of engineers to study the technical specifications of Bing, the search engine launched by Google’s archrival Microsoft.

However he did mention, “Bing is a competitor. We have absolutely looked at Bing; we have actually studied what they do as Microsoft studied what Google does.”

Launched less than a month ago, Microsoft’s Bing search engine managed to capture a considerable amount of internet seekers but is trailing Google and Yahoo Inc.

Bing is due to be launched in UK this autumn where as a test version is already available.

Going by the market figures of the last week, Google’s arch rival, Microsoft’s newly launched search engine Bing won more market share according to the data released on Wednesday. However, the new kid on the block is still miles way from Google Inc and Yahoo Inc.

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer labeled this as a good start for their company.
“We have had some very good initial response,” Ballmer said at a conference in Detroit. “I don’t want to over-set expectations. We are going to have to be tenacious and keep up the pace of innovation over a long period of time,” he added.

According to data released by industry tracker comScore on Wednesday, for the June 8-12 week, Microsoft grabbed 12.1 per cent of U.S. Internet searches. This accounts for a 11.3 per cent growth from the June 1-5 period, the week in which the new search engine was launched.

On the monthly basis, Google top scored with 64.2 per cent of U.S. searches in April, followed by Yahoo! with 20.4 per cent and then Microsoft with only 8.2 percent
